CIMPA School
June 4 - 17, 2023, Havana, Cuba
The school
The CIMPA Research Summer School on "Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Simulation in Medicine" will take place at the Universidad de La Habana, Cuba.
It is part of the summer courses funded
by CIMPA.
The registration is open until February 28, 2023.
Details
In modern medicine, reliable computer simulation and medical imaging which are based on mathematical algorithms and numerical methods gain significantly importance for diagnosis and individualized therapies. In order to keep up with these developments it is of utmost importance
to provide state-of-the art tertiary education and training in these important
fields. Applied mathematics plays a key rôle in these areas and the goal of
this CIMPA school is to provide a high class training program. In order to have
a good balance between diversity and deepness of topics we have selected the
following key topics and fundamental solution methods as the focus of this
school:
Topics:
Inverse problems/parameter identification
Simulation of heterogeneous biomaterials
Mathematical image processing
Fundamental Solution Methods:
Optimization methods
Multiphysics, multiscale, and multigrid methods
Regularization methods
Composite Finite Elements.
This school was supported by a grant from the IMU-CDC Conference
Support Program, which is partially supported by the Abel Board.
Please check in advance. The programmes are in Matlab and require
the image processing toolkit and a volume viewer.

Practical Information
Arrival and lodging information for participants
Please make sure to organize your appropriate visa.
The airport taxis(the yellow ones) are perfectly safe. The trip to Vedado costs around USD 25.00.
The lodgings are arranged in double rooms located at nearby family houses that rent rooms. Each room has its own bathroom and air conditioning. Please let us know if you have someone you prefer to share the room with.
For breakfast options you can have snacks in cafeterias close by or at Hotel Habana Libre (about USD 5.00 for an American breakfast).
The zone is full of restaurants where you can have the meals not given at the school.
Vedado is a secure zone and close to theaters you can go during the weekends. If you need any further information, please contact us via:

or directly.
On June 10th, 2023, a one-day excursion will be organized.
