[Video] Resonances and spectral gap of random hyperbolic surfaces

Abstract: In this talk we will define a notion of random (infinite volume) covers of surfaces modeled over a classical model of random regular graphs. We will then investigate the spectral gap of those random surfaces as the degree goes to infinity and prove an explicit a.a.s. result that generalizes the famous 3/16 of Selberg.
