On the permanent of certain large matrices

In this talk, we consider the permanents of all M-lifts, with M a positive integer, of a given non-negative square matrix and discuss a couple of conjectures and results that are relevant to coding theory. An M-lift of a square matrix is a square matrix of M times larger size, defined from the given matrix by substituting any nonzero entry with a permutation matrix of size M and any 0 entry with the zero matrix of size M.
