The McEliece cryptosystem is an asymmetric encryption algorithm using coding theory. It has the advantage of having fast encryption/decription algorithm and it resists to quantum computer attack unlike RSA and ECC. However the main drawback is that the public key size is huge. In order to reduce this size, the use of GRS codes was suggested to replace of original with Goppa codes. However, this turns out to be insecure as the structure of the GRS code can easily be recovered. In an attempt to repair it and thus reallowing the use of GRS codes, I will present a method for scrambling the columns of the GRS codes.
