Solving a quadratic equation is a problem which occurs in several areas. Here we present some efficiently algorithms to solve it, supposing to know the factorization of the determinant of the associated matrix. These algorithms make use of the LLL-algorithm to minimize the quadratic form into an equivalent unimodular quadratic form. Hence we have it, the solution is easy to compute. Depending on the dimension n of the quadratic form, the minimization step can’t always be done on this fixed dimension n but we have to work on matrices of dimension greater than it. We will also consider a special algorithm which solves a quadratic form of dimension 5 without the knowledge of the factorization of its determinant, which makes use of some of the algorithms seen before.
