Orthogonal polynomials in several variables potentially useful in pde

A survey will be given on orthogonal polynomials in several variables, in particular in two variables, and among those in particular the polynomials whcih are products of one or two classical orthogonal polynomials and elementary factors. Special focus will be on orthogonal polynomials on the triangle expressible in terms of Jacobi polynomials. During the past twenty years these have found many applications in numerical analysis (finite elements). If time permits, some attention will be paid to a nontrivial problem raised by Stefan Sauter about two systems of such triangle polynomials on triangles having one edge in common.
