PBW degeneration: representations, combinatorics and geometry

Abstract: We will define the PBW (half-abelian) degeneration of the simple Lie algebras and Lie groups. We will describe the highest weight representations of the degenerate algebras and derive applications for the representations of the classical algebras. It turns out that the classical flag varieties also have degenerate versions. We will define these varieties and provide several examples.
