A construction of motivic Steenrod operations in positive characteristic using log motives

This is a report of work in progress. Annala and Elmanto constructed motivic Steenrod operations in positive characteristic using a motivic refinement of Nizioł’s theorem. In this talk, I will show that Ayoub's unipotent nearby cycles functor sends MZ to MZ, which yields another construction of motivic Steenrod operations in positive characteristic. The proof requires the motivic six-functor formalism for log schemes.
