On the fibration method for zero-cycles and rational points

Prof. Dr. Olivier Wittenberg's talk

Date: 23.03.15   Time: 13.15 - 14.45   Room: Y27H25

I will discuss recent progress (joint with Y. Harpaz) on the fibration method for proving the existence of zero-cycles of a given degree and rational points on varieties defined over number fields. The results are unconditional for zero-cycles, while in the context of rational points they depend on a conjecture on locally split values of polynomials which a recent work of Matthiesen establishes in the case of linear polynomials over the rationals.
