Abstract: In this talk we will review the diagrammatic categorification of quantum sl2. This algebraic structure provides the representation theoretic explanation for categorified link invariants such as Khovanov homology. We will examine the structure of 2-representations and show that the axioms that need to be checked can be made quite small. This allows us to relate such a 2-representation to the 2-representations introduced by Rouquier, generalizing his work with Chuang.
