How are the study programs structured? What are modules?
The study programs are divided into modules. A module consists of one or more courses. ECTS credits points are awarded exclusively for modules. Modules usually extend over one semester.The completion of a module can be made dependent on the fulfillment of preconditions; the course catalog provides information.
What types of modules are there?
A distinction is made between: compulsory module: module, which is compulsory for all students of a degree program. Compulsory elective module: Module to be selected in a predetermined number from a given list. Elective module: Module that can be freely selected from the offer of a subject or subject group.
The Program regulation from the MNF and the Guideline Defines the compulsory, core elective and elective modules of the individual courses of study, including the corresponding ECTS credits. For elective and core elective modules, this determination can also be made in the annotated course catalog.
Who is responsible for the modules (including any examinations or other type of certificate of performance)?
For each module, a person responsible for the module is appointed and named in the course catalog.
How do I enroll for a module?
The module booking is done via the module booking system of UZH. There, the modules can also be canceled again. Booking and cancellation deadlines can be found in the course catalog.
How do I earn my ECTS credits?
ECTS credits are awarded on the basis of a certificate of performance only. The time, form and extent of this evidence will be announced in the course catalog.
If dishonesty is committed in the case of proof of performance, the examination or the performance will be declared as failed.
